When sufficiently pushed to his limits and experiencing high emotions; Joseph can temporarily gained superhuman strength, agility, etc. However, he hasn't mastered control over these moments; and when he loses control and gives into his emotions, he becomes a berserker. (These moments don't start until after his intro arc)
Genius Level Intellect
Joseph is one of the smartest people on the planet; having achieved a doctorate at 10. He also has an intuitive mind and is good at figuring out tactics (though not as good as Nightwing)
Joseph went around the world training in martial arts. He prefers a mix of Krav Maga and Muay Thai; later training does improve his fighting and adds new styles and skills
Joseph has the usual gadgets of a crimefighting vigilante. He does have a few things that's unique to him. One of his favorite devices are what he calls "Jitterbugs"; silver disks that release a taser charge. He also has a holocomputer of his own design.
Along with his gadgets (in a handy utility belt); Joseph has custom made armor for his own war on crime. He uses throwing knives as projectile weapons; prefering to use them to hit non vital areas or weapons et al out of people's hands. He uses a club as his preferred weapon. Joseph wears a domino mask that also serves as his binoculars, various types of vision, etc, and is linked to his holocomputer for intel. He usually wears a hood attached to his armor, but sometimes wears a trenchcoat and fedora over his armor and head respectively.
In New York City, Joseph uses a souped up motorcycle that he can integrate with his holo computer. It has a few defensive weapons. After his intro arc, his future transportation is to be determined
Joseph Kane was born to Henry and Beth Kane in Brooklyn, NY. His father is the CEO of Kane Industries, a rising corporation in NYC; his mother is the head of the PR department. His grandfather built up the family company and serves as Chairman and CEO Emeritus, his grandmother is a famous Broadway actress. When Joseph was born, they soon found out he was...different. By the time he was 1, he was already reading and talking like an adult; but unfortunately he was also often sick. His parents, wanting him to take advantage of his gift, made him study so he could become a doctor. When he wasn't studying, he'd be tinkering with gadgets. But throughout this, he felt trapped and caged. He had few friends, one of his closest one was Zatanna Zatarra, the daughter of his grandmother's friend, the magician and hero Zatarra.
One day when he was six, his grandmother took him to see Haly's Circus at Coney Island as a treat. There, he was astounded by the physical feats by the boy on the trapeze who was a couple years older than him, Dick Grayson. His grandmother, knowing Jack Haly, managed to get the boys to meet each other. While from different backgrounds, etc, the two became fast friends. With Dick, Joseph could feel normal. Unfortunately, a year or so after they met, Dick's family was killed. Joseph was elated to hear Bruce Wayne adopted Dick, but was upset that Dick could no longer spend time with him, not knowing Dick's secret.
A couple years after that, Joseph experienced his own tragedy; he was nearly killed by two punks while waiting for Dick (who came to visit) in Prospect Park. While recovering in the hospital; Joseph came to a few conclusions. If he wasn't immune to being killed and was only saved by medical procedures his parents could afford but most couldn't; no one was. This made him angry, he felt like people shouldn't live in fear. Being inspired by Gotham's Batman and Robin, who he looked up to, he decided to become a crimefighter when he was older.
His bodyguard served as his first trainer, building Joseph up from a sickly kid to an athletic preteen. After Joseph had his Bar Mitzvah, he went around the world learning everything he could so he could be the best crimefighter he could be. When he got back to Brooklyn, he started building a secret base under the family mansion in Park Slope (a neighborhood in Brooklyn), and only told his little brother Sam, who was the only family member he was really close to, what he planned. Sam decided to help his brother behind the scenes, but he really wants to serve as his brother's "Robin".
A few months as New York's new teen vigilante; Joseph ran into The Team as they were investigating different sides of the same case. Dick and Co, as civilians, eventually approached Joseph, as a civilian, to help them figure out a gadget Dick "found". Ronin and The Team worked together in NYC, albeit grudgingly. However, Joseph was eventually unmasked by Nightwing; who was surprised to find out that Joseph knew his "little secret", as well as the "little secrets" of other heroes, for years. Joseph agreed to send on what he would find out to Nightwing, but told the Team to get out of New York. Joseph then left, leaving Nightwing wondering why Joseph was so angry. Later, Zatanna visited Joseph (as Ronin) to try to calm him down; but when Joseph found out she and Nightwing dated, he was hurt because he carried a torch for her for years. He then hacked into a zeta tube and told her not to follow him.
However, when the villains of this intro arc found out about Ronin's actions, they kidnapped Sam and nearly killed Joseph. Joseph zeta beamed himself into the present HQ of The Team and gave Nightwing all the intel he had; in return, he wanted Dick to save Sam. The Team went to save Sam as Joseph was rushed into the medical bay. Miss Martian read his mind and saw how lonely Joseph had been all these years and comforted him. However, Batman then "debriefed" Joseph and said he and Sam will be guests of the Team while Joseph heals. However, Joseph could no longer be a hero until he got proper training from the Team (or someone else) and was cleared by the Justice League. Wanting to keep his dreams, Joseph agrees to temporarily sacrifice his independence to achieve his potential. While he trains, he helps back at HQ, helping to provide intel. Sam helps as well and becomes friends with the younger heroes.
However, there is a secret to Joseph that even he doesn't know. A secret locked in his DNA...a metagene...and a truth that could change everything for Joseph should he, or someone else, find out.
