Sid Caesar, one of the earliest TV stars, master comedian, Broadway star, and national treasure has died at the age of 91

He got his start as a comedian in the famed Borscht Belt

One of television's pioneers, writers on his show Your Show of Shows included Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, and Woody Allen.

He starred in the Broadway show Little Me, which recently had a City Center Encores revival.

His show, and the various behind the scenes antics, inspired TV series, plays and movies such as The Dick Van Dyke Show, and My Favorite Year.

He struggled with alcohol addiction and became sober and was very candid about it.

He can never be replaced.
