Description

Here is the rough draft script for one of my indie comic ideas: The Eagle.

Set in 1870 New Mexico, The Eagle is a tale of a Western Vigilante, in the Lone Ranger mold, with some aspects of various other heroes.

Who is the Eagle? Ghost or Man? Friend to the Settlers, or ally to the Navajo? This mysterious vigilante has been riding all over the New Mexico Territory, in 1870, fighting crooks and Indians all over the desert. Seemingly based in the town of Rock Ridge, no one knows who is behind this mysterious figure in white. All they know is the cry of an eagle as he approaches, and the strange badge perched on his hat. One day, a young widower reporter arrives from New York with his two sons and on a mission: to found the first paper of record in the territory, and dig up dirt on The Eagle. Thus starts a grand saga of the Wild West.

You can see concept art of our hero here: fav.me/d7oi9au

While this is an action packed story, there will be some humor. The name of the town, as well as the surname of it's most prominent citizen, is my homage to Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles.

Let me know what you guys think; I've already gotten some really good feedback, and you guys act as my beta readers. I really want this to be one of the indie titles I pitch.

This issue is just setting things up for the first big arc (I'm thinking of writing this series in "seasons"; meaning I write an arc and take a break after it's published before the next one, like how Saga is written)

Let me know what you think; in as much detail as possible :)

The Eagle and the characters in it belong to me entirely; do not reproduce, copy, use, etc without my consent

EDIT 7/12/14: Version 2 uploaded. Beginning flashbacks cut and replaced with shorter opening. New action sequence story told by Doc.

The faux mute Indian...because the wild west needs to learn from one flew over the cukoos nest. I am always unsure about westerns, morality seems fluid which is always fascinating but it's so hard to be original with Westerns isn't it? The whole genre of it seems to have been done before, that being said there is always plenty of room for a twist. And we have a few good twists here, a wild west hero may not be original but it's mighty fine by me.

The main character which is surprisingly not the title character strikes me as a familiar sort (but then I know your style old friend). The paternal touch always appeals to me and I love the woman pride! Go girl!

So yes this is very good work, I shall be reading more, good show old friend.
